Desi, how did the book end?? I always thought a stronger ending for the film should have been that, while the little girl loved her sister, she also loved herself and wanted to be free to live her own life. The way the script went, she would have kept on sacrificing herself for her sister. That made her a little too noble, in my view.
But they still made a powerful argument for her original contention. Not enough movies today focus on strong, social issues.
