I burned a copy of Microsoft Office from a friend and it did install on my laptop but it won't open and the error message says the operating system is not
configured for it. How do I get around that?

You go buy a real copy and don't try to pirate software.

Good answer, Thal.
Get rid of your bootleg Windows & download Ubuntu. It's a Linux based operating system that is a lot like Windows but is open source (FREE), plus you can download Open Office, which will do pretty much anything Windows Office will. If you save your files as .doc they'll even open on in Windows Office. |

unfortunately, it will never work, prairie. microsoft has keys and locks built into their software, so it'll never work bootleg unless it's been hacked
by someone very knowledgeable. once, you could copy the software and if you had the key it would work on another machine. no more.
