Millions of other people feel the same way, but it's rough shooting.....the star, Gabriel Byrne is in every scene and it takes over 5 months to
shoot....plus, he said it was emotionally draining......but hopefully, they'll do another year.

Yes, I can imagine how exhausting it must be, he conveys it so well. But, selfishly, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least one more season.

Thanks for the update!! (What do you think, think Paul will "settle" with Alex's father)??

Last night I found some episodes I had somehow skipped over, like the one where Walter tells Paul he was fired from his job and a couple of episodes with
April that ended with Paul taking her to the doctor. That girl just destroys me . . .

I saw the last episode of the 2nd season last night.
Very glad Paul was vindicated; that April is getting better! (She needs more therapy, though; hope she'll be back if there's a third season). Sad that Paul and Gina parted ways but maybe it was time. April and Her Writer | ||

Until I read this article I hadn't paid attention that each patient was written by one writer, especially as I'd also read that they just followed the
original script. But this article goes into depth about "April" and her writer:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/17/arts/television/17sont.html?scp=3&sq=Alison%20Pill&st=cse I just finished watching the whole second season in marathons On Demand. Wow! I so love Dianne Wiest -- I saw her on the street on the Upper West Side where she lives last year and it took all my self control not to stop her and bother her to say how much I love her work on this show, but by the time I did she'd walked on by of course. She's also the best thing in the odd-ball movie "Synedoche NY" (sp?) I love how Byrne would unload all his anger from the week in their sessions. But you so saw him all week almost crossing lines, then doing so, then not, treating each patient differently but each one influencing the others. I certainly can see it's demanding work for Byrne, but I sure hope there's season 3, especially now that they were filming in NY (some of those supposed Brooklyn scenes were clearly here in Queens). |

I approached her, telling her how much I love her work, etc, in an utterly unobtrusive way. Not only did she not answer me, she never even looked at me, she just strode off . Fuck her , I say. Who the hell does she think she is? That will always color my feelings for her now. NY Nora, how was that quirky, SNY flick anyway?

Was she wearing her huge glasses? If she wasn't, maybe she couldn't really see you!
SNY looked great, but was way too long and self-indulgent. There were creative ideas that got drowned in the whole production, but there were some critics who liked it a lot more than I did. I liked the first third and the last third with Wiest the best. |

Sorry you had such an unpleasent encounter with Weist, Hando. You just never know...
My all-time favorite performance of her's was "The Birdcage," which may be my #1 favorite funny movie! Your Signature ... I loved "Frozen River"! I thought it was one of the best films of last year and Melissa Leo should have gotten the Oscar. At least she got the
Independent Spirit award.

I took a look at the plot summary for that, Hando, it looks good, I'll netflix it.

We're off topic here, but I went to see "Hurt Locker" with my husband and a son and we all really liked it. It's a bit short on plot though.
If you saw HBO's "Generation Kill", it feels a lot like it could be the follow-up, like what happened to soldiers like that once the Iraq
War's been grinding on for awhile.
It also reminded me of a Masterpiece Theater miniseries from years ago about Unexploded Bomb teams in England in WWII that had, oh, something like 90% death rates. Jeremy Renner is terrific, the directing style is very unpredictable and very tense. |
