I was just watching HLN when Mike (whoever) got a note passed to him that People Mag. just broke the news that Jon and Kate have filed seperation papers at the Bucks County Courthouse in Pa. Not much of a surprise there, from what I hear. Too bad for the kids though.

I do however care about the kids they've exposed to this since birth and are now exposing to their public bickering in the press. Anyone else envision 8 separate memoirs in about 15 or 20 years about how fucked up their lives have been? It's Alec and Kim times eight...

The kids are cute. As far as the parents are concerned she comes off as very over-baring and controlling and he as very passive. From lasts nights show he said he just got fed up with her. She made some statement about not giving up her being with the kids for all the holidays and he didn't dispute her, so it doesn't look like anythings changed in either of theirs behavior. susiek Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.

Posts: 4329 (Jun 23, 2009 3:20 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	so i wonder if the show will go on. they're contracted for 25 more episodes. i hate to perpetuate the train wreck syndrone, but watching a family with 10 kids going thru a divorce would be infinitely more interesting than just watching the kids grow up. since 50% of the marriages in this country end in divorce anyway, they could have something informative, enheartening, civilized and/or instructive to show in how this came about and how it's going to be resolved. could it be because they had the 10 kids? is that just too much for 2 people to take on? do you have to be a certain kind of religious to make this kind of thing work? (thinking of that woman who has 18) plus, if the show stops they have no way of supporting this family. btw, i don't watch, but my mother loves this show.

Anyway, I remember that the sextuplets were still infants and John was talking about how he had been opposed to the idea of a second pregnancy--that he thought the twins were enough and that they didn't need any more children, but he gave in to what Kate wanted. It was so obvious even then that he wasn't happy with the direction his life had taken. I think he gave in to Kate about doing the show, too, but I can't say I blame her. It would be awfully hard to raise that many kids while pulling a regular nine-to-five. The kids weren't going to have a normal upbringing regardless, and that marriage wasn't going to survive regardless, so I don't think the presence of cameras in their home is going to make them any more screwed up than otherwise. I have never watched more than a couple of minutes of this show, maybe three or four times when I was channel surfing and each and every time I passed by I was struck by how nasty the wife was to the husband. No wonder they're getting divorced! The poor kids, their entire lives on television including their parents divorce. If the child stars who were only acting have such a high chance of being totally screwed up, what is likely to happen to these little kids as they grow is terrifying.

In the past months when I would read about Jon & Kate or hear about them, I went WTF? who the hell are they? why does everyone seem to know about them and I've never heard of them.....then I saw it was reality TV. In the DMN this morning they had a quote from Kate, that yeah they were divorcing but "the show must go on".....excuse me, WTF is she talking about......raising children is not for public consumption, it's not entertainment and it's not a "show".....that remark told me all I needed to know about this woman.....from what i can see she doesn't have a talent for us to watch, she hasn't written a book, sang a song, acted in a play, she's not a politician, she's not a journalist......IMHO, you need one of those elements for it to be a "show". I can't fathom why anyone would want to watch the intimate moments of a family......particularly one in crisis is beyond my comprehension.... media whore? you bet! When the kids were infants he had a government job and she returned to working nights as a nurse. Then they were offered the series for $75,000 and episode. That's probably what they made in a year. That's a lot of money to turn down when you have to support 8 kids. Of course it's a trade off. It's really too bad that they can't make their marriage work, I feel sorry for the kids who are already attention-deprived. Jon has been looking at 1 bedroom apts. in NYC, so you know he's not planning on doing more than the occassional weekend dad thing. How is Kate going to manage being a single mom, plus all her book & speaking arrangements.
