Thankfully, we're being spared the sight of RC in tights. (Later for any men in tights -- anywhere anytime.) |

This picture raises a very important issue that I think we all need to ponder...
WHERE'S THE CODPIECE? He promised us a big codpiece. As a gentleman of his word, I expect him to deliver. Fiddle |
|||
a rather large cod piece |

Wait for it..................................

Wow. He's thin. At first I thought it was a photoshop with his head pasted onto another body. Nope. Way to point that arrow, Russ.
dlisted's take LOL! There was a Simpon's ep where Homer was thought to be mentally ill since they never saw the guy he was always talking about. A parody of ABM but in one part, there is a Robin Hood reference. Quite a coincidence. Watch here

Well, it sure is nice of them to give us this sneak peek since we have to wait a whole friggin' year for this film! Seriously, I am assuming they are
releasing this pic now to take advantage of his publicity from SoP...and to perhaps play up the difference in his appearance! I am fearful though that ordinary
folks will suppose this film will really BE Maximus in Tights (or fetching leather pants/humongous codpiece). Will they go to see it if they are expecting a
slightly transplanted remake of Gladiator? Stay tuned!
ps...he looks rather tasty, if I do say so myself!

They just need to work it into the plot line that Robin Hood is actually a direct love-child-descendant of Lucilla and Maximus. "Robin Hoodius Maximus
Longinus", or something.
Gitsie, that dlisted link made me PMP! Thank you GOD that I am not nor ever will be famous! |

Will they go to see it if they are expecting a slightly transplanted remake of Gladiator? Stay tuned! I know what you are saying but I can't see that being a problem, frankly. Looking back over the Box Office trends since Gladiator its the movies that were different that had the problems getting audiences. Sequels, remakes, franchises...even mediocre to bad ones.....had no problem getting bums on seats. If this movie appeals to only half of Gladiator's audience, plus some frsh punters, then it will do very nicely indeed. I suspect a large portion of those who flocked to Gladiator and still rate it in their top ten movies (and they are numerous) will go and see a 'slightly transplanted remake of Gladiator' in a heartbeat. Indeed, if they had made a Gladiator Two (not saying they should have because I never did like the idea of resurrecting Max)...even if it had been an inferior movie in every respect, it would have far outsold Glad ticketwise because an awful lot of people only discovered it after it arrived on DVD. There are loads of instances of this happening. I for one am looking for something stirring, colourful, and above all a great ride. I am tired to death of being preached at the cinema and want to be Entertained. Don't understand why its only the kids who get entertained these days and we have to Embrace Serious Subjects. We bloody well do that all the time in Real Life as it is! Gladiator grabbed the attention because it something rare these days...an action flick with soul and depth and one that took people out of boring mundanity instead of ramming it down our throats. If Robin Hood is pitched to do the same then it will do just fine. "To the tables, everybody, and stuff yourselves!"....Head cook at the forest feast....'The Adventures of Robin Hood, 1938.'

Interesting that someone who'll go to just about any extreme to physically "become" a character took so long to dress for the role of "Academy Award-Winning Actor", "Actor of Our Lifetime - 2009", "God of Modern Cinema", or whatever serious interpretation of himself he wants the public to accept. Most people believe what they see and buy what they like. Packaging counts. Besides, looking good and dressing well instantly decimates much malicious gossip. As little as he professes to care, it must be nice to read compliments rather than slams for a change. |

Andrew, Prince of thieves ...
The Mail on Sunday 26 Apr 2009 Prince Andrew could be the guest of honour at the premiere of Robin Hood after he spent six hours last week watching Russell Crowe film scenes in Windsor Great Park. Andrew was being driven through the park when he spotted the actor and stopped. Crowe took a moment from filming to tell me: 'Yes, Prince Andrew came to visit the set. We were shooting in his back garden, so to speak. He ended up staying for around six hours watching a fireside scene where Robin and his men are attacked by mercenaries in the night. 'I had a number of conversations with him. He was great, very knowledgeable about the Robin Hood period and really interested in our take on the story. 'He since sent me a personal note underlining how much he enjoyed himself on set. I will be sending him a note in return. The cast and crew were honoured. Maybe next time he might bring his mum and dad.' http://www.theroyallandscape.co.uk/press/filming-and-photography.cfm
